Planned community based services

The following are the structures and procedures we intend to use in pushing forward our community-based services to better target rural areas where we have not been actively engaged.

Personal Development Services

  • Support for children with special needs.
  • Support for children with challenging behavior.
  • Support for children/adults to improve academic performance and retention in school.

Community Psychosocial Support Services

  • Counseling.
  • Support for individuals facing psychosocial challenges, including initial assessment, hospitalization where applicable, and home care.

Training for Carers and Community Psychosocial Support Workers

  1. Carers:

    • Training for individuals caring for people with psychosocial challenges (e.g., husbands, wives, children, parents, co-workers, etc.).
    • Advice and guidance services for the trained carers, such as husbands, wives, children, etc.

    Community Psychosocial Support Workers:

    • Training for existing healthcare workers.
    • Training for NYSC members and other graduates assessed to be able to work in this sector.
    • Training for others assessed to be able to work in this sector.

Advocacy

  1. Highlighting challenges faced by people with psychosocial challenges.
  2. Liaising with Government and Non-Governmental agencies to improve mental health services.
  3. Public enlightenment on the etiology of mental health challenges.
